NNLs relationship with Government is key to our ongoing success and we have a critical role to play in fulfilling and delivering government policy supporting the UK's net zero ambitions. The Account Manager role will support and manage key government programmes across several different areas including Security and non-proliferation, international collaboration and fuel cycle programmes.
You will work in partnership with colleagues across NNL and HMG to enable the laboratory to demonstrate Leadership through the realisation of opportunities to provide specialist technical services and support to meet the requirements of this complex and challenging field.
Accountable to the Account Director - Government and a member of the Customer Experience directorate you will work collaboratively across NNL to advance our strategic ambitions. This will include working closely with the multidisciplinary team responsible for the development and implementation of our clean energy and security & non-proliferation strategy.
While your focus will be on the identification and securing of government opportunities, it is also expected that you will also play a role in ensuring the success of the broader portfolio.
You will work closely to establish and strengthen relationships with key HMG departments and agencies that have interest in this area. As a result, you will have a style that engenders the confidence of government officials and other key public sector stakeholders. You will understand the implications of HMG priorities (such as Net Zero, Integrated Defence Review, Build Back Better) on the development of new nuclear technologies, including development and response to emerging reactor and fuel cycle technologies.
As an emerging area of focus for NNL, the post holder will be required to develop and adapt their approach as our environment and understanding of the role we can play evolves.
Main Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities for Account Manager
Nurturing operational customer accounts to develop long term relationships and generate new business.
Winning customer work in the account area in line with short, medium and long term business plan (to meet revenue and profit targets).
Accountability for P&L for account area.
Develop customer (account) strategies and business plan to win work.
Articulate the demand for resources required to deliver the work.
Liaise between customer and cross functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of solutions according to customer needs.
Develop business cases to support internal investment.
Revenue forecasts and tracking key account metrics.
Operate as the lead point of contact for your customers.
Establish and foster new relationships with key HMG departments and agencies
Work collaboratively as a member of the cross-NNL team responsible for setting and delivering our ambition in Security and Non-Proliferation.
Ideal Candidate
Essential Criteria for Account Manager
Track record in winning and growing existing customer business.
Track record of nurturing customer relationships internally and externally, in particular HMG and public sector stakeholders.
Proven account management or relevant experience.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time whilst paying strict attention to detail.
Experience of upselling and growing areas including negotiation skills.
Customer relationship management.
Successful preparation and delivery of business cases; influencing internal senior management.
Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years' worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for Account Manager
Detailed understanding of NNL skills and capability or demonstrated how have gained knowledge in previous role.
Experience of operating within the Nuclear Sector
