I am currently recruiting for an Assistant Management Accountant to work on behalf of a leading public health organisation based in Lincoln. (Split between the office in LN5 and home based).

The hourly rate (PAYE) is between 10.42 and £11.56 depending on AAT level.

Your role will to be a member of the Finance Department, working in Financial Management, and contributing to the delivery of a high-quality Financial Management service.

Qualifications, Experience, Behaviours required

  • AAT Intermediate or educated to A Level standard is essential
  • You must have experience of I.T. (including e-mail and spreadsheet skills) and have experience of understanding and manipulating data.
  • You must possess excellent communication skills, be able to work in a team, recognise the importance of team working and have good customer awareness.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Monthly Processes:

  • To take day to day responsibility for a range of budget areas, providing high quality financial monitoring information and offering advice and support to budget holders.
  • To complete designated jobs on task list to agreed deadlines, planning workload to meet the deadlines.
  • To interpret the analysis and translate the data into useful management information.
  • To provide ad hoc costing on skill mix changes and vacant posts in line with establishment control procedures.
  • To request regular and ad hoc invoices to be raised for services provided by the Trust. To subsequently ensure that income is accounted for in accordance with the accruals concept.
  • Assistance in costing service changes, ensuring all costs relating to the service are identified.
  • To provide reconciled, financial analysis and interpretation of expenditure to managers in tabular or graphical format. To create advanced spreadsheets.
  • To contribute to the development of best practice within the Financial Management Team, by proposing and implementing agreed changes to working practices, which will improve the service provided.
  • To assist in the production of reference costs and service level reporting / patient level costing.
  • Ensure Electronic Staff Record (ESR) occupation code reporting and the financial ledger hold consistent information, identifying and investigating where discrepancies exist and implementing solutions, applying to budgeted and actual information.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade and post. The main focus will be within financial management but with the ability to offer support on tasks requiring the similar competencies within financial services.
  • To assist in the annual budget setting process
  • To assist with the calculation of budgets as part of the annual budget setting process for input to the Trust s annual budget setting process.
  • To assist in identification of cost pressures to feed into business planning process.
  • To lead on the agreement of organisation balances with budget holders for the Directorate.
  • To verify accrual values for inclusion in final accounts, involving the interrogation of information systems.
  • Support in implementing internal audit recommendations and establishment control in line with procedure.
  • To attend meetings as a representative of the Finance & Supplies Directorate and to deal with queries arising from those meetings
  • To manipulate, analyse and utilise data to provide reports and useful financial information for both Trust personnel and external customers.
