We are currently looking to expand our small bid proposals team within our busy Bidding and Estimating department in Skipton. The successful team win work, ensuring the company continues to grow and diversify. As a company we work on so many different projects, so this role will give you the opportunity to work with different clients allowing you to also build networks across the business. Due to the nature of the role you will have the opportunity to grow, develop and will gain a really good understanding and appreciation of the company as a whole. What does the role involve?
Working with the existing experienced Bidding and Estimating team to:
Develop, write and edit high quality documents that meet client requirements. Examples include construction methods, health and safety procedures and case studies of previous projects.
Check the quality and consistency of responses in terms of themes, messages, key phrases and key words.
Build an internal network of key contacts to ensure continual access to accurate and up-to-date company information to assist with bid submissions.
Support continuous improvement by capturing submission content within a bid library and recording and sharing best practice within the team.
Proofread and edit your own responses as well as those written by others.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail with an excellent editing and proofing ability.
Ability to quickly learn a new subject and then be able to write persuasively about it.
A confident, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who can handle multiple tasks at any one time with a desire to work in a fast-paced and rewarding department
Confident and willing to talk to anyone in the business to build effective working relationships.
Educated to Degree standard as a minimum.
Computer literate in MS Office (Word and Excel is essential).
Previous experience of bid writing or experience of writing about a variety of technical subjects (fluency, accuracy, correct messaging etc.).
Some civil engineering experience within the utilities, highways, gas or commercial buildings sector.
A skill that would add value to the bid team i.e. a graphic design background or the desire to self-teach.
