Bridge Supervisor Torpoint Full Time £36,807 - £42,279 per annum inclusive of shift allowances Our client is part of the critical highway network infrastructure connecting Devon and Cornwall. The Control room is at the hub of operations 24/7 365 days a year and as such the ability to prioritise, multi task, incident manage and action tasks using an accountable decision making process is essential. As a leading member of the operations team the Bridge Supervisor will maintain safe, efficient, and reliable traffic flows through the Tidal Flow corridor, supervise (with assistance) Toll Plaza operations ensuring safe working conditions for all users and compliance with financial and operating procedures. The control room team work to a 5 week cyclical rota which consists of early shifts (05::30), late shifts (13::30), as well as one week of consecutive night shifts (21::30) in the cycle. Within that cycle there is also one week of admin shifts and training shifts are required. You will be paid on a monthly basis and although your weekly hours will vary according to the rota you will be paid 1/12 of your yearly salary each month (plus applicable allowances) making it easier for you to budget. Are you the right person for the job? A minimum of two years experience (FTE) of working in a pressurised customer service environment A high level of reporting, record keeping and similar writing ability, including a strong competency in using MS Office software including Word, Excel and MS databases (or equivalents) Ability to make independent decisions, motivate and leading staff in challenging circumstances and giving clear instructions to employees when unexpected events occur Leadership and team-building skills with an ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow colleagues, the public and other multi-discipline bodies Practical experience in applying internal policies and working as part of a team What will your role as a Bridge Supervisor look like? As the routine focal point for daily operations the ideal candidate will be adaptable to change, quick thinking, operate well under pressure and comfortably manage competing priorities. The role requires a strong understanding of health and safety and excellent customer service skills. Supervisors must lead by example for the Control Room Relief and Assistants. This includes the safe, timely and efficient coordination of traffic management depending on the time of day and demand Bridge supervisors monitor CCTV, and support security requirements when planning operational activities. Planning is carried out in accordance with legislation and organisational policies and procedures. Effective communication with other staff to ensure compliance with safety, operational and financial procedures is essential This is a pivotal role within the bridge operation and the successful candidate must demonstrate high levels of IT literacy and communication. The role will include significant data entry to complete Control Room Logs, Incident records, fault identification and tolling reports. In addition, a high degree of interaction and communication with people will be required to engage directly with our customers, multi-agency stakeholders, including National Highways and the emergency services via telephone and one to one , prioritising workload, and routing more complex issues to the relevant management team leader. During weekends and out of hours periods the Duty Supervisors are the primary focal point for Tamar Bridge and first line response The role requires in depth experience of people and change management, strong organisational skills and a flexible approach to support delivery of projects and coordination of training. The successful candidate will be comfortable making independent decisions, work well under the pressure of multiple tasking and adaptable to the demand of changing priorities What can you expect in return?
