As Delivery Manager you will be an integral part of the IT Services team, reporting to our Business Services Lead. IT Services provides Desktop, Communications, Data, Networking and Infrastructure solutions and services for Hiscox globally.

The main focus of your role will be to manage a local team of IT Services Infrastructure Specialists. As Delivery Manager you are responsible for managing the team, delivering IT change and maintaining IT operations across our organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line and Performance Management of the local delivery squad ( 12 FTE) technology professionals.
  • Build a whole-team identity where squad members trust and support each other; developing, supporting and embedding a culture of continuous service improvement, innovation and automation.
  • Manage the capability and capacity of your team, in conjunction with other IT Services functions, ensuring we recruit the right people and drive staff development with appropriate professional, technical, soft-skill and 'on the job' training
  • Manage global technology partners to ensure consistent and timely delivery. Hold partners to account for performance inline with our commercial agreements. Define and refine operational models to ensure maximum value is derived from partner engagements
  • Work with the Business Services, Operations Leadership and across IT Portfolios to ensure effective resource management across our multiple delivery squads and across our combined partnership capabilities.
  • Work with other Delivery Manager's to cross-pollinate ideas, drive service improvement and best practice with the aim of gaining alignment and increasing performance across squads.
    • Understand the priorities, road-maps, vision and challenges of affiliated Business Units. Work with Portfolio and Project Managers to ensure our delivery capability, approach and priorities are aligned with Hiscox business objectives.
    • Accountable for the efficient delivery of projects, products and services (Quality, Efficiency, Timeliness and Value) by your squad. At any one time squads may be working on up to 100 different projects or initiatives.
    • Own and prioritise the product backlog for your squad; managing your team to ensure effective delivery in-line with your commitments to stakeholders
    • Where appropriate; engage and manage relationships with external vendors and sponsor IT Services focussed initiatives with responsibility for on-time / on-budget delivery.
    • Manage Stakeholders across the organisation. Responsible for influencing and effective expectations management and prioritisation across multiple competing Business Units.
    • Work with stakeholders to ensure requirements, acceptance criteria and priorities are clearly defined, understood and agreed to maximise performance of your delivery squad
    • Enforce best practice across your team, IT Services and the wider organisation
    • Accountable for producing KPIs and communications to the wider IT team on the service and value that your squad are delivering
    • Identify and escalate risks/impediments to Business Services / Operations Leaders as appropriate

Person Specification

  • Strong interpersonal skills with previous experience of mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
    • Line Management experience or experience of leading Virtual and/or Multinational / Multifunctional Teams
    • Experience of managing 3rd parties in alignment with robust commercial agreements and business objectives
    • Have practical experience of planning and resource scheduling within an operational environment
    • Delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organisational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Have the ability to confidently interact with both business and IT individuals at all levels including senior and executive management
  • Strong stakeholder management with knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture" view
  • Be highly results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a very fast paced environment where the pace of response and leadership is critical to success
  • Be creative, proactive, logical and innovative and will not just accept the status quo
