The Role

Are you proficient with 2D & 3D CAD packages, preferably Autocad, Revit and Inventor? Do you possess a sound engineering background, coupled with excellent communication skills? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are a manufacturer of a diverse portfolio of products and services for rail depot and compressed air systems to clients throughout the UK, looking to appoint an experienced Engineering CAD Technician to our friendly team.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your engineering career within a well-established and respected manufacturing company. Occasional out of hours work will be required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of an Engineering CAD Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • CAD draughtsperson, preparation of design models and drawings from sketches through to final submission.
  • Alteration of existing models and drawings.
  • Production of drawings from as built equipment.
  • Assistance with preparation and submission to client requirements.
  • Customer Liaison - telephone, in-house/external meetings and site visits.
  • Design input for on-going projects and help with the preparation of tenders.
  • Assisting in the preparation of O&M Manuals
  • Assisting with proposals, idea s, concepts, drawings & calculations
  • Obtaining quotes & estimating prices
  • Estimating design & detail man hours.

Located in purpose-built facilities in Newark Nottinghamshire - Airquick design, manufacture, install and maintain in partnership with rail clients. This involves trouble-shooting, repairs, upgrades and in some cases renewal of complete systems working to strict adherence to rail procedures and timescales. Providing 24/7 peace of mind and expert support nationwide to ensure minimal downtime and optimum service.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of an Engineering CAD Technician are:

  • Proficient with 2D & 3D CAD packages, preferably Autocad, Revit & Inventor
  • Computer literate with experience in MS Word and Excel packages.
  • Good written vocabulary and the ability to prepare documents for customer issue.
  • Good interpersonal & communication skills
  • Good telephone skills
  • Ability to work on his/her own initiative and within a team.
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Sound engineering background with an engineering qualification desirable.
  • UK Driving license desirable
  • Compulsory safety training will be required before working on railway property which will require a full medical and Drugs & Alcohol screening.
  • Ideally resident within daily commuting distance of Newark.
