We develop technology and provide a route to market for instrumentation developed by the Detector Group at Diamond and other internationally renowned institutions. Our well-respected products are installed at prestigious research facilities around the world.The successful candidate will join a vibrant team who are passionate about distributing cutting edge technology to the world s leading laboratories. This is a new role, previously the company finance has been overseen by the Finance Officer. As the company is growing, we have identified the need for expansion within the discipline to ensure all the company needs are met.You ll report directly to the Head of Operations and work closely with the CEO to ensure financial activity and company direction are closely aligned. You'll be responsible for providing accurate, timely and relevant information to the senior leadership team, as well as keeping company finances in order as the company grows. The position requires close interaction with a range of departments and staff, so good communication skills and a professional attitude are essential. You ll be constantly challenging the status quo, looking for ways to do things better, improve controls, increase efficiency and have a "can do" attitude.The core activities of the role include:
  • Oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Preparation of forecast and budget numbers and providing commentary and explanation of variances.
  • Manage all finance and accounting operations and the day to day running of the finance department
  • Accountable for the quality of data in the company s accounting platforms
  • Accountable for accurate, up to date company accounts
  • Management of expenses
  • In-house payroll
  • VAT returns and audits
  • R&D tax credits
  • Assist in managing and developing the financial team and capabilities of the company
  • Creating scalable processes & controls to provide the business with solid foundations for growth
  • This role will include task management of a team and could include line management responsibilities
About you
  • Bookkeeping experience using Xero
  • Experience at Finance Manager level in a relevant size organisation
  • Possess relevant NVQ/SVQ qualifications or specialist qualifications
  • AAT Level 4;
  • CIMA certificate level; or,
  • CIMA higher level qualifications desirable
  • Highly analytical
  • Commercial acumen
  • Solid organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Highly computer literate with impeccable spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and to deadlines, using a logical and methodical approach
