Internal Audit Business Support Officer

The starting salary for this role is £36,282 per annum for working 36 hours per week. Flexible working from other offices or home is supported and encouraged with a laptop supplied.

This role will provide overall business support, co-ordination, and monitoring to the Orbis Internal Audit Service, operating across Surrey County Council, East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council. You will be responsible for administering the audit management system including production, development and reporting on performance information. As well as this, you will co-ordinate and monitor improvement and development activities across the service, to maintain momentum against the service's improvement ambitions.

In this role, you will also support the annual audit planning process across the business, holding others to account and managing effective communications. You will administer the internal audit action tracking arrangements across all partner councils and clients. The role will also involve supporting the work of the Orbis IA Management Team, including arranging meetings, agenda planning and co-ordination of whole service away days and development events.

You will support the scheduling and booking of audit activities throughout the year, especially in relation to the school audit work programme. In addition, you will support the preparation of independent external audit assessments of the partnership and lead on the co-ordination and collation of the internal quality review programme. The role will also involve overseeing subject access requests and related actions supporting Auditors with ad-hoc tasks.

This role will report into the Audit Manager and will be required to engage with internal group networks across our Internal Audit partnership by building and maintaining key relationships with key stakeholders and managing parts of the audit process through to delivery. You will ensure that effective planning and communication is in place to support the internal audit function.

On occasion this role will be required to travel to sites across the partnership.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • An understanding of monitoring improvement, performance and reporting to drive change.
  • Experience of managing systems, workflow and overall coordination.
  • An ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of your own work load to successfully coordinate a number of projects and/or pieces of work at the same time.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills: proficient Microsoft Office user with strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
