IT Forensic Engineer - cyber and technology IT Forensic Engineer / IT Security Engineer. A claims management firm need an IT Forensic Engineer - cyber and technology to join the team. This role can be entirely home based, although the firm have offices all over the UK. The IT Forensic Engineer / IT Security Specialist - cyber and technology will take ownership of complex IT projects flowing from instructions received by the team in respect of client networks impacted by external threat actors. The IT Forensic Engineer / IT Security Specialist - cyber and technology using a combination of OSINT and proprietary tools will have the necessary skills to determine how the attack occurred, how to secure the network and recommend a course of action to complete repairs. Your development will include on the job and external training. You ll also have the chance to develop the IT forensics product and by doing so, your future, with potential to develop a forensic team as the business grows. Working in collaboration with the Cyber and Technology adjusters to provide forensic IT support and incident response to cyber incidents, the role includes responsibility for ensuring cyber security incident response capabilities are managed & maintained, ensuring agreed security standards, policies & procedures are adhered to in relation to ICT systems and services reviewed, and assisting with the management & execution of the annual Cyber Essentials / + product lines You'll undertake a review of networks post incident suffering as a result of an attack and identify and remediate security vulnerabilities, reducing associated risks to impacted networks, have responsibility for the operation, management & development of the Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) solution in conjunction with the Cyber and technology incident managers, and support the Cyber and Technology team in the development of relevant strategies and policies. In addition, you'll be responsible for the reporting of audit findings and resolution to incident response managers in a timely fashion, developing security recommendations to incident response managers based on audit findings, to enhance and improve operational delivery and security, and lead the remedial action / risk reduction plans that result from security audits, cyber exposures and security assessments. As Forensic IT support within our team you will be able to;

  • Identify the importance of data / information and be able to identify which data should be recovered, backed up and preserved.
  • Provide support on the frequency and retention of backups to provide adequate protection for compliance with audit and legislative requirements.
  • Collect, filter and compile evidence ready for any legal proceedings
  • Produce written technical reports supporting audits and declarations that will be needed by any court.
  • Detect, collect and analyse the evidence of cybercrime from computers, networks and other associated information and IT equipment.
  • Deliver and assist other professional in understanding the implications of their findings regarding any audits carried out.
  • Liaise with internal staff or external partners, including policyholders IT security professional, together with software and hardware vendors.
  • Demonstrate willingness to keep up to date on the latest happenings within the cyber security realm.
  • Maintain high levels of professional conduct, including but not limited to cooperative engagement, the exercising of initiative, improvements to the service, and professional styles of communication when necessary.

- Complete daily timesheets IT Forensic Engineer / IT Security Specialist - cyber and technology will need:

  • Educated to Degree level in a technical discipline with ISMS knowledge - ISO27001 & 27002, NIS, NIST, or equivalent demonstrable experience in security standards
  • Demonstrable experience of working flexibly, whilst under pressure, to deliver agreed milestones, experience of producing excellent communications both verbal and written, with excellent soft skills. Experience in developing and managing a team and experience in chairing teams meetings.
  • Advanced Technical skillsets and knowledge of security products and technologies including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Anti-Malware, Proxies, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Intrusion Detection/Prevention (IDS/IPS), Multi-Factor Authentication, Vulnerability Management and Firewalls. You will have highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to focus on complex problems for extended period of time and excellent planning, prioritisation and organisational skills.
