What you'll be responsible for:

  • Provide a full and comprehensive Service, including timely audio typing of clinic letters, letters, documents/presentations, taking and typing of minutes, agendas, and compilation of letters as required by the Consultant(s) and respective Team(s). This may involve correction of incorrect grammar and interpretation of different pronunciations and handwritten clinical notes of advanced medical terminology.
  • To undertake accurate audio/copy typing (digital) of medical correspondence and general administration for the Consultants and their teams. This will include highly sensitive and complex medical terminology with a need for confidentiality.
  • To work to the agreed standards and templates for each specialty/department
  • In conjunction with the Senior Medical Secretary, ensure that the departmental transcription workload is prioritised and maintained within time standards
  • To post signed letters and provide a support to the Medical Secretaries

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise work
  • Audio typing skills
  • Microsoft Office skills- Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • NHS System Knowledge
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Medical Terminology Knowledge
