MMP Consultancy are looking to recruit a Policy Manager to join a public sector organisation. This is initially an interim role, with the view to go permanent. We are looking for experienced Policy Manager's to apply. As Policy Manager you will be responsible for working across multiple departments, reviewing and writing departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities: Build strong relationships with external stakeholders that will enable you to influence effectively. Leading on specific policy areas, and contribute to the management of the wider Policy, Evidence and Influencing team, including planning and budgeting. Support on the design, articulation and implementation of strategic outcomes and priorities Ensure appropriate support and information regarding national, regional and local policy developments are available to staff Develop and sustain strong and productive relationships with key partnerships and stakeholders Lead on the development of high-quality strategies and policies that articulate and align activities for the business Development and implementation of key plans and strategies Coordinate the Councils' responses to national agendas, initiatives and consultations Support key political processes, contributing to the quality, clarity and consistency of the Department's interactions including direct contact with elected members and senior officers. Undertake and manage activities to support the departments information governance arrangements Ensure resources are available to provide advice and expertise on consultation, engagement and co-design Ensure issues of diversity and equality inform service development and changes, including strategic advice and guidance on meeting statutory responsibilities. Skills, Experience and Knowledge Required: Significant experience in policy and service development Experience of successfully managing own workload in an environment where deadlines and priorities frequently change and are often conflicting A track record of working as part of cross-functional project teams, and ability to manage the delivery of cross-functional project teams via matrix management. Ability to communicate effectively and authoritatively both orally and in writing, with councillors, officers, partner organisations and the public Evidence of excellent interpersonal negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with staff at all levels, corporate colleagues, elected members and external organisations. Ability to work at pace, juggle priorities, and assimilate new information quickly, and ability to make sound decision and judgements under pressure.
