Job Summary
The Project Engineer's primary function is to support the Project Manager, as needed, to ensure achievement of project success factors, which are:
Projects completed on time
To the agreed specification
To the highest levels of quality commensurate with industry and commercial proposal
Achievement of, and ideally improvement of handed over budget performance in accordance with all the business s and safety requirements and HSE legislation whilst meeting or exceeding our customers expectation
Key Skills/Experience
Essential
Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering engineering projects and of co-ordinating the hands-on work needed to achieve the project objectives in the field
Demonstrable experience delivering projects in either Nuclear / Oil & Gas / Manufacturing / Process / Power Generation industries
A formal qualification to HND level or higher in an Engineering discipline or proven and significant experience of working within an engineering company
Able to read complex engineering drawings encompassing mechanical, electrical and control system elements
Experience of managing third party sub-contractors
As happy working on site as in an office, including spending overnights away as projects demand
Ability to work on site as company representative co-ordinating site works, attending progress meetings and managing site paperwork
Demonstrable understanding of relevant engineering standards, Health & Safety, CDM & CE Regulations
Experience of solving problems between internal work teams, external partners, clients and authorities
Able to prepare reports of the weekly and/or monthly production status, update cost estimates and justify new expenditures
To read and understand client specifications to ensure projects are delivered in compliance with client requirements
Ability to author project and compliance documentation
Able to author and/or contribute to site safety documentation including Risk Assessments and Method Statements
Able to author Factory and Site Acceptance Testing documentation
Preparing pre-cost estimates of all aspects of a job for bidding purposes
Liasing with the Manufacturing Dept in the ordering of materials and equipment
Expedite orders placed with suppliers
Working at our assembly/build workshops to ensure our products/systems are built and tested in line with our design documentation and drawings
Reviewing subcontractor bids for certain parts of projects
Willing to undergo security clearance to a minimum of SC
Desirable
Experience of working within the Mechanical Handling sector including overhead cranes, materials handling, moving structures
Experience of working within the Nuclear Decommission or MOD sectors
Experienced with mechanical and/or electrical design packages, e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCad Electrical
Experience of running FAT & SAT (Factory and Site acceptance tests)
A relevant Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH, SMSTS, Safety Passport, CSCS
