Main Purpose:
To optimise the purchasing performance for an extensive range of classic car components
Review of supplier costs and delivery performance
Develop new suppliers and sources to support the sales function and optimise margin performance
Identify supply solutions for items no longer available

Key Tasks:
- Negotiate new and existing contracts to ensure continued value, flexibility and sustainability.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers -attend visits in the UK when necessary.
- Negotiate preferred freight, courier and charter rates and maximizing our global purchasing power.
- Develop and put in place new systems and procedures to optimise the procurement function.
- Work in close partnership with other departments and stake holders in the business, including sales, marketing and finance.
- Work closely with sales team to identify new parts to bring to market and resurrect parts no longer available
- Work closely with suppliers and distribution to ensure maximised availability and fulfilment without holding excess stock.
- Ensuring minimal wastage.
- Improve supplier delivery performance
- Improve supplier cost performance
- Maintenance of supplier data, price lists, contact details etc
- Daily review of back orders and expediting of due/overdue purchase lines and updating delivery ETA's

RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of the job holder to ensure the highest levels of customer service are maintained (stock availability) and that margins are optimised and budgeted savings targets are met

The job holder has a responsibility to represent the company in a professional manner at all times and on all occasions.

RELATIONSHIPS
The job holder is directly accountable to the Purchasing Manager
Close working relations must be developed and maintained with all employees and particularly with the Sales and Operations team
Required Skills and Competencies

- CIPS Membership or Qualification

- The business is strongly part number focussed so require a strong eye for detail and good level of numeracy

- Good communication skills

- Ability to multi-task

- IT skills (MS Office) and stock control (Merlin or similar operating systems)

- Significant track record of cost saving and supplier development skills

- Detailed knowledge of the classic car parts market, or experience in working in a fast paced auto parts aftermarket, or similar
