Software Release Co-ordinator
Would you like to work for one of the largest and innovative defence companies? We currently have a vacancy for a junior Software Release Co-ordinator to join our busy Configuration Team at our Portsmouth, Broad Oak site.
You will have the opportunity to provide software configuration and release support to our internal software development team of the world's most advanced underwater products and their associated test and support equipment.
Possessing experience in configuration and release management at all product lifecycle stages, you will also be developing skills in support and instruction to others to meet required standards and internal processes.
As part of the role you will provide user support and administration to associated applications, with opportunities to challenge and influence process improvements and reporting. Internal training will be provided on all tools, processes and procedures.

Your main responsibilities as a Software Release Co-ordinator will involve:
Maintain software build standards to meet company configuration, project, and contract requirements.
Contribute to the development of configuration plans, polices and processes that configuration management and the wider organisation operates within.
Represent configuration management across the projects and externally to the organisation.
Ensuring compliance in accordance with relevant processes and procedures.
Create, review and progress first issue notes and engineering change requests on behalf of the Configuration department. Ensuring correct procedure and checks are undertaken.
Check completion of release board's documentation and required attendee actions prior to the release board and pursue outstanding actions post release board.
Help provide project guidance regarding configuration management planning and incorporation.
Help provide user guides and processes for ClearCase, ClearQuest, SAP and software configuration activities, providing 1-2-1 user training where necessary.
Involvement in continuous improvement activities as directed.
Support the Configuration group in the completion of both internal and external Audits.
Working with the vendors / IT support team regarding system and server customisation, upgrades, and patching.
Support hardware configuration team on request.Your skills and qualifications:
Configuration, release and change control, ideally with a manufacturing product background.
Operating knowledge of configuration principles and practices for in-house developed hardware / software.
Ability to influence large projects and engineering teams and implement new or improved processes and methods.
At all times promote health and safety as the standard.
Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel etc.) and Adobe knowledge.Desirable:
Knowledge of general Defence hardware / software configuration control requirements and procedures.
Previous knowledge of ClearCase, ClearQuest, SAP, SharePoint and Teamcenter tools.
Knowledge of DEFSTAN 05-057 and ITIL best practices.What we are looking for in you:
