Reed Education are working closely with a specialist school in Reading to recruit for Learning Mentors.
What we are looking for
- People available full time for temporary-to-permanent vacancies. Interviews or trial days will be organised following registration.
- We are interested to hear from experienced Teaching Assistants as well as Graduates specialising in any subject areas.
- Graduates of psychology have previously been extremely successful in this role.
- Graduates of any subject area are encouraged to apply for this role as the school are interested in seeing subject specialists for specific departments in the school.
- You will understand the challenges of working with the challenging behaviour and have experience of applying appropriate strategies and can demonstrate proven results.
The school
- The school is a purpose-built special school in Reading for students aged 5-16 diagnosed with autism and social, emotional and mental health needs.
- This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a developing school. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with teachers, parents and other staff members to ensure the needs of the students are successfully met.
- Being a "good" OFSTED rated school, you will be joining a team of experienced and supportive special needs practitioners with a drive to progress their students and the performance of the school.
As Reed Education work closely with this school, following a successful temporary trial period, a permanent role can be on offer.

- Experience working with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Experience working with SEN, specifically autism.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
- Good knowledge of mental health needs and recent training or experience.
- Degree level qualification.
