Subject teacher for specialist provision - West Cumbria

We are looking to recruit subject teachers for roles in a specialist behavioural provision - these are interesting roles working with a small group of pupils and an allocated Teaching Assistant to teach your subject and support the pupils to access the curriculum working towards achieving their GCSE's.

The subject roles are as follows:

Maths & English - 5 days a week from September until at least December

Outdoor Learning Leader - 4 days a week from September until at least December

Art - 5 days a week from September until at least October half term

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and assess teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable SEND (Behaviour) young people to learn
  • Be a class tutor, ensuring pastoral needs are met and establishing excellent relationships
  • Engage and motivate pupils
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals
  • Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom
  • Adhere to all working protocols
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training


  • Successful class teaching experience.
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, SEMH (Behaviour)
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.
  • Teaching qualification/QTS
  • Flexibility and resilience

You would work through System People on a supply basis and paid PAYE weekly - qualified teacher rates are from £140 per day depending on experience - NQT's from £125.
