We have an Exciting Opportunity for a Transport Manager to join our new Distribution Centre based in Aylesbury (HP22)
Contracted to 40 Hours per week
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 17:00

As a Transport Manager, we are looking for you to take responsibility and ownership of the Transport operations and site Fleet budget, ensuring that there is vehicle, driver and planning management, that there is adherence to dispatch times and that there are clear route management processes, so that delivery schedules are achieved in-line with target KPI s for the branches.
We are looking for you to have 5 + years experience within Transport Management and to utilise that experience to be O Licence & FORs Compliant and manage, plan, mentor and coach a team of 10 Administration staff and 40 drivers.
Transport Manager - The Role:
The leadership and management of all aspects of the Depot Transport operation, in order to ensure that deliveries are made On Time, In Full (OTIF)
To manage and produce Operational KPIs in relation to the Transport department
Proactively drive the transport department forward by strategically planning for the future utilising experience of the wider market and developments in transport technology
Influence the way the transport department operates and improve in areas such as fuel costs, maintenance spend, agency costs etc
To ensure the transport department is compliant in its practices in line with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency.
Managing at team of up to 40 Drivers and 10 Administration staff
Managing the transport budget; taking corrective action where costs are greater than either the budget or volumes allow and develop continuous improvement programmes.
Reviewing, maintaining & updating training logs ensuring all staff are available & attend training courses as & when required.
Complete thorough driver trip Debriefs and manage poor performing drivers.
Ensure full compliance for the Operator s licence, manage the FORS accreditation, with complete oversight of all regulatory requirements
Monitor driver CPC training requirements
Transport Manager - The Person:
Have a minimum of 5+ years Transport Management experience
Have managed in excess of 30+ drivers previously
Strong leadership and communication skills with strong business acumen and the ability to liaise internally across departments
CI principle training (an advantage)
Proven experience in Transport Management and knowledge of fleet and warehouse operations, and an understanding of WTD, safety and legal compliance
Knowledge of vehicle planning & scheduling, and good customer care skills
Able to demonstrate significant transport experience within a multi-drop environment
Experience in transport and route planning beneficial.
Experience in Vehicle Compliance is a must.
Good relationship building skills and ability to work well with other team members
Strong planning skills and ability to solve problems and make effective decisions quickly.
Strong IT skills particularly Excel & Word
Be CPC National qualified
Have a strong understanding of routing systems (Transport Manager / Paragon or similar)
Experience in being named or taking responsibility for the companies Operator licence.
Experience of automated driver and delivery tracking systems, training will be given to company specific solutions
Previous experience working with H&S and Risk Assessments
