Wire Winder / Winding Technician
Salary £38.5k (including shift allowance) plus benefits
We are a specialist manufacturer of complex high end technical products based near Luton, Bedfordshire. We are currently seeking an experienced Wire Winder to join our workshop team on a double-day shift pattern.
We offer a salary of £38.5k (including shift allowance) plus a generous benefits package and paid overtime will be available to our Winding Technician.
This role will involve the manufacture of the core of their electrical motors by winding the units with electrical cabling. The winding department is also responsible for the connecting of stators through plastic injection techniques along with high voltage testing to satisfy the quality requirements of the motor.
Additional duties will include:
Preparing stations for upcoming contracts
Able to read detailed engineering drawings
Pull through wet wound winding to electrical specifications and drawings
Tie in of windings
Short wind techniques (Basket Winding)
Jointing of wet wound motors up to 11kv
Ferrule, hand tapped, and 3M scotch guard jointing
Moulded joints and use of plastic injection moulding equipment
Flash testing of wound stators and connected stators up to 33kv
Production of Terminal Gland Mouldings
Conduct Root cause analysis when required.
Operations to be booked onto and closed on completion using the ERP system.
Work within team and all cross functional teams to ensure contractual obligations are achieved Right First Time (RFT) and On Time In Full (OTIF).
Ensuring that regular 5S duties are carried out to sustain a clean environment
Adherence to all health and safety aspects related to the Winding & connect areas and ensure that a zero accident environment is maintained.
Ensure that Health & Safety, Quality and Environment assurance, control and regulatory compliance are demonstrated.Good communication skills are important for working within the team environment and understanding safety procedures. We are flexible on the industry sector from which the successful candidate will come from so long as they are able to demonstrate the skills and experience required for this position.
Applicants may be currently or previously working as a wire winder, winding technician, or recently completed a manufacturing apprenticeship.
The double-day shift pattern alternates every week, so Week 1 Early shift: Mon-Thu: 06.00 - 14.00, Fri: 06.00 - 13.30, Week 2 Late shift: Mon-Thu: 14.00 - 22.00, Fri: 13.30 -21.00.
